How do we re-educate the anti-gay anti-Christ evangelical Christian fundamentalists to be less anti-social?

Why do these bigots feel so driven to take over the country and the world, what is it with people once they get a little puffed up on religion that they have to constantly grab more power and control and inflict it upon everyone? Is a personal relationship each with their God not fulfilling enough for them?
